Derek Flynn is an Irish author, playwright, and musician with a Masters in Creative Writing from Trinity College, Dublin.
He has self-published a number of novels featuring the ex-cop turned private detective, John Ryan, including THE DEAD GIRLS which was chosen as one of the “Best Irish Books of 2018” by the readers of the Rick O’ Shea Book Club, Ireland’s biggest online book club.
His award-nominated plays have been performed in various venues throughout Ireland, including the prestigious “Scene + Heard” Festival in Smock Alley, Dublin.
He is the co-founder and co-editor of the literary magazine The Waxed Lemon, which novelist and columnist Megan Nolan has called, “a remarkable, sustained volley of brilliance and originality.”
Derek runs a monthly online event called “Subbacultcha” featuring live music and poetry/literary readings. He also writes a column for Writing.ie and contributes non-fiction articles to the Irish Times.
