10:40-11:40am : DISCOURSE ONE: Dance making/Making a living? 

An informative, honest and thought-provoking discussion around the issue of artist’s wages and their current working conditions. 

Panellist to include local & national Independent Dance Artists – Áine Stapleton, Maria Svensson, Trish Murphy & Becci Whelan 

4 dance artists tell their story of Professional Practice in the regional, national and Southeast context. Can we make a living as dance artists/choreographers wishing to make and tour new work?

11:45-11:50am : Introduction to a proposed Dance Strategy for Waterford 2020 

Short overview of aims/objectives of a proposed dance strategy plan for Waterford. In conjunction with Arts Office, Waterford City & County Council. 

12-1pm : DISCOURSE TWO: Maintaining Ambition in a Limited Funding Environment 

A chaired discussion on the obstacles faced in making, producing or programming high quality dance projects in a regional context – within a limited funding environment. What can we do to keep ambitious in our practices?

Chairperson: Miriam Dunne (Festivals & Events Programmer)

Panellist include Mangan (CEO Carlow Arts Festival), Elizabeth Whyte (CEO Wexford Arts Centre) & Mary Boland (Theatre Royal Programme Manager).
