Antler steps out of her front door and throws her phone to the ground. Then she climbs the tallest tree in the park. She doesn’t want to be found, not by anyone. Over the course of one autumnal evening, seven teenagers’ lives intertwine as they make their way through the park….
Remote is a play about protest, power and protecting yourself.
Suitable for audiences 13+ yrs.

“NT Connections is one of the biggest celebrations of youth theatre in the world. Each year the national theatre commissions writers to produce new plays specifically for an ensemble of young actors and then invite a select number of companies to produce them. This is not the first time WYA was involved in NT Connections over the years, most noticeably in 1999 WYA was selected to put on their production of The Pilgrimage by Paul Goetzee directed by Deirdre Molloy to the Olivier Stage at the National.”
Deirdre Dwyer Says:
“I am thrilled to be working with Waterford Youth Art’s incredibly talented young people and to have the chance to present this brilliant play to Waterford Audiences.
When I was sixteen, I had the opportunity to participate in the National Connections as a performer. That experience, amongst many others in WYA, had an indelible impact on me and my chosen profession. Waterford Youth Arts was where I made my best friends, and it was also an important space for me where I was challenged while being supported, a beautiful combination. I hope that this experience is a joyful one for our dynamic cast, and I know that audiences who come to Garter Lane to see the fruits of our hard work will be blown away by Stef Smith’s gorgeous play and the committed and creative cast.”
